Hermione decided to treat herself to the delicious barbecue. She used one hand to pick up a chicken skewer and ate it without hesitation. “Hey cutie bear,” she greeted Hugo who was sitting on the blanket thrown over the grass and he smiled shyly before hiding his face into one of the young girl’s lap who she didn’t recognize.
"Hey mate," Charlie greeted Draco as he came over to the group of guys.
"Nice to see you again," Draco said and shook the other blond’s hand and then got chucked a beer from Conner. "This a regular thing?" He asked looking around the expanse of green grassy land that surrounded the lake, people everywhere with barbeques set up.
"Mostly," Conner nodded as Draco opened his beer and took a drink. "Oh, right," the redhead said. "This here is Henry, Regina’s husband," he introduced. Draco looked at the taller, dark haired man with a serious expression and offered his hand to him.
"Pleasure. Name’s Draco," he introduced himself and the other man nodded.
"And this is Stewart," Conner said, gesturing towards a smiling man who looked a lot more friendly than Henry did.
"Nice to meet you," Draco smiled and shook his hand.
"You have a wife yes?" Stewart said and Draco nodded. "Ah, yes, so that would be the fine woman that my wife’s talking to over there?" He asked, pointing his finger over to the group where Hermione was still at where she was smiling at a meek looking woman.
"Yeah, that’s her," Draco said with a smile. "That’s Hermione. I’ll introduce you if she comes over."
"I thought you wouldn’t make it," Jane approached with a smile. She was dressed in… Overalls? She did wear a top too. Casual outfit for a casual outing and Hermione liked her style.
"It smells divine," Hermione sighed as she looked down at the grill. It seemed that families had their own grill set up and she smiled and waved at Celia who waved brightly before walking towards them wearing sunglasses with white rims and heeled wedges. She hugged her but carefully since Scorpius was asleep against her. The ladies all gushed for a while before Celia pointed to where Charlie stood with a few other males.
"Join then Draco! Have a drink. You’re dressed perfect!" Celia complimented in her usual hyper self before she called out to Charlie to call Draco over.
"Hey Jane," Draco greeted when she walked over to them. Next to come was Celia who hugged Hermione like they’d known each other for years and then turned to him. "Nice to see you," he said politely to her. At her comment on his attire, he was glad to see that the majority of the other men had forgoed shirts since it was a nice sunny day. He walked over to the group, seeing Charlie and Conner as the only familiar faces, and he got introduced to the others.
"And touching a married man isn’t?" She retorted.
"Good point," Draco nodded. "Then yes. I’ll tell her to go away if she does."
"I do not promise," she sniffed. "If she comes close to you tell her to go away." She demanded.
"That’s a bit rude though, don’t you think?"
"I hope you keep your word." She said.
"I will. Don’t know about her though," Draco said. "Just promise me you’re not going to get pissy at me if she says something or does something to me."
Hermione let her hand rest on Scorpius’s lap as he clutched onto her fingers lazily and his eyes drooped.
"Don’t you even look at that Regina." She said as she viewed his face at the front mirror.
Draco was halfway down the street when Hermione spoke and he looked at her reflection in the mirror. “Wasn’t planning on it. Hopefully we can avoid her as much as possible,” he said.
"Don’t roll your eyes at me." She caught his look before she stepped inside the car and helped strap Scorpius into his carseat and he was close to falling asleep.
"Sorry," Draco apologised and started up the car once Hermione had gotten into her seat and done up the seatbelt.
"Near the town," she answered before heading outside to the car.
"Okay, you can direct me better when I get close," Draco rolled his eyes at her crap instructions and got into the car after opening the backdoor for Hermione to put Scorpius in his carseat.
Hermione made Scorpius his milk before she handed it to the baby who immediately took it and bed eagerly in her arms. “Alright, let’s go,” she said to him.
"Where is the lake anyway?" Draco asked and headed to the front door.
"I think I know what to do," Hermione gave him a squinted glare before she stepped inside the firplace and flooed home.
"Mama’s cranky," Draco murmured to Scorpius and then followed her into the floo and went home.
